Welcome to Villa Lili, a beautifully restored former winery just beneath the historic Castle of Pyrgos. From the pool terraces to the vaulted, cave-like interiors, every space is designed for effortless elegance and one-of-a-kind character.

Villa Lili has a sleek and minimal loft-style design, restored with a deep understanding of traditional Santorini architecture using old-style polished cement and eco-friendly materials. Elements of the site’s industrial past have been incorporated into the design, with a large piece of vintage machinery standing like a sculpture at the centre of one of the villa’s many living spaces. The restoration took years of meticulous research, given the property’s location just beneath the historically important Castle of Pyrgos, with floors painstakingly created by a local craftsman using a hand-mixed matte cement finish throughout.

The complex was originally designed and operated as a winery for producing wine and tsipouro, with the spatial organisation of the buildings still reflecting this history—spaces once used for treading grapes sit alongside the large, double-height rooms where wine was stored in barrels. This layout repeats throughout the complex, creating variation between cave-like hidden spaces and clearly expressed cubic volumes, with domes, arches, thick walls and small windows forming the distinctive vernacular geometry of the buildings. The villa consists of four distinct housing units built around a protected courtyard, along with a shared space featuring a full kitchen and large dining area overlooking the pool.

The renovation carefully preserved these spatial qualities while introducing modern vacation living, with local materials and techniques used throughout the finishes and furniture informed by simple, traditional building methods. Villa Lili offers generous outdoor space, including two pool terraces and various al fresco settings, with high ceilings and abundant natural light throughout.
