Cascioni Eco Retreat is situated in the countryside overlooking the bay of Cannigione and the crystal-clear waters of Costa Smeralda. It’s a dazzling view, full of sun and vivid colours. Behind our Retreat lies Gallura: a quiet landscape of beauty and tradition, of granite, olive and cork trees, and traditional country houses.

Cascioni Eco Retreat lies on a secluded estate with its own nature reserve. Within its gardens and porches it’s a cool and tranquil place to come back to after a day on the beach. From here its easy to explore it’s ancient history, crafts, and cusine. These are the delights of a different kind of holiday: where your only difficult decision with each new day is whether to opt for nature or culture, countryside or coast.

The retreat

Our estate has been known as Cascioni for longer than anyone can remember. It lies on a fertile plain crossed by a stream which forms a small lake just below the retreat, before slowly making its way down to the sea. It’s a landscape of gentle contours, olive groves, and fields hazed with wild flowers. Our large and lovingly tended vegetable garden is the pride of our entire family. Fruit trees and aromatic herbs that grow throughout the estate.

The environment

We have reimagined the stazzo, the traditional peasant dwelling of Gallura, combining its rustic charm with a modern layout where the emphasis is on hospitality. The central part of the building contains the reception and the restaurant, with a stone fireplace and spacious mezzanine. The lounge bar is set within the porch, overlooking the lawn and the large swimming pool, while the kitchens are tucked away in the back. In the basement level is the wine cellar – a cosy, oak-scented room where wine tasting sessions are regularly held. Close by is the wellness centre, where guests can enjoy the heated swimming pool, sauna, herbal infusions, and natural beauty treatments. The suites are just a few steps away, through the courtyard or the olive grove.

The suites

Cascioni Eco Retreat offers only a limited number of suites, and that makes every guest a little more special. Our retreat has 10 Deluxe Pool Suites and 5 Prestige Pool Suites. Each with its own porch, private garden, heated pool with views of the countryside or sea, an ample living room and spacious bedroom.

Simplicity of design conceals the highest standards of modern comfort. All materials are natural: oak and cork, handmade light terracotta floor tiles (perfect for walking barefoot), and the textures – coarse yarn of the floor rugs, the veil-like delicacy of cotton and linen – are designed to contrast in a pleasing way. Every suite features all the comforts of technology, often integrated in the design, and everything you need for your relaxation and well-being.

Cuisine – Natural and traditional

Our chef is a passionate advocate of Sardinian culinary traditions and believes in an entirely natural cuisine based on the finest local ingredients. Much of the produce served at your table comes from our own vegetable garden or orchard. We make jam and conserves with our fruit throughout the year. Our olive trees grow the way nature intended, and their olives are cold- pressed in the Cascioni mill to yield an exceptionally fragrant extra-virgin olive oil. It’s not unusual for our kitchen to prepare ingredients collected by the guests of the Retreat during their walks on the estate: the chef’s skill always brings out all their flavour and fragrance. Sip on a world-renowned Vermentino of Gallura, a rich and velvety Cagnulari red, or try the famous Cannonau – the perfect accompaniment to locally-produced ewe’s cheeses and mountain salami, served on crispy carasau flatbread.

We like our guests to choose the flavours, the settings, the views that best suit their mood at every single moment of their holiday. Wellness

The unique state of equilibrium when body and soul are at peace with themselves and the world. The feeling that takes over us every time we immerse ourselves in nature and feel part of it again. That’s why we decided to situate our Retreat in the silence of the countryside, where every plant and every stone has its place, and each element harmonizes with the others.

Our estate is criss-crossed by paths that are easy to negotiate on foot or by bike. The bay of Cannigione can be reached by canoe via the small lake in the Saloni nature reserve, with stopping points for birdwatching or meditating along the way. The fitness centre is equipped with Technogym machines and offers a panoramic environment where you can keep fit while admiring the radiant landscape of the Gallura.

Our Spa Mediterranea strikes the same note of natural harmony: it’s a corner of tranquillity where you can indulge yourself with a relaxing olive oil massage in one of the centre’s three treatment cabins, or recharge in a steam bath or a sauna scented with helichrysum, lavender and myrtle. The heated swimming pool includes a waterfall and hydromassage and is the perfect place for thalassotherapy. Inside, guests are welcome to stretch out on the sofas in the relaxation area and enjoy an infusion made from Sardinian herbs; outside, there are loungers where you can lie back and take in the scents and sounds of nature.
