Lonavala is extremely popular during the monsoon when the hills are bursting with fluorescent green foliage, rain is pattering on the roof and the rolling mist makes you want to snuggle a cup of masala chai. Dotted with some picturesque waterfalls, you must visit Kune falls – a three tiered waterfall with a total height of 200 metres and has the gorgeous Khandala valley as a backdrop. The lesser-known Kataldhar falls roar with the force of the water but can only be reached by trekking through the valley. There’s also a reverse waterfall in the monsoon where the water flows backwards instead of down.
